Westminster Seminary California (WSC) announces the resignation of Dr. J. V. Fesko as Academic Dean and Vice President. Dr. Fesko will take up a full-time teaching position as Professor of Systematic Theology for Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS), Jackson, Mississippi, in Fall of 2019.
Dr. Fesko has served Westminster Seminary California as Academic Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and as Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology for the past ten years. During his tenure he has published seventeen books, including The Theology of the Westminster Standards and Word, Water and Spirit: A Reformed Perspective on Baptism, and made significant contributions to the seminary’s academic labors.
“It has been a privilege to work with the wonderful community at WSC,” Dr. Fesko reflected, “and it is bittersweet to leave. I am thankful to the board, faculty, staff, and students for their encouragement and support over the last ten years. I have many fond memories, and so much appreciation for the many who welcomed me here ten years ago, and with whom I have grown as a pastor, professor, and friend. As I take up God’s call to RTS, Jackson, I am strengthened by the love and commitment the WSC faculty demonstrates to preparing pastors for Christ’s church. May God continue to bless WSC in her mission for Christ and his church.”
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Ron Prins, commented, “We have appreciated Dr. Fesko’s administrative service as Academic Dean and Vice President, and especially commend him for his diligence and commitment through the academic accreditation renewal process for national and local accreditation, where for the first time in WSC’s history we achieved an unprecedented ten-year accreditation from each agency, the longest allowable accreditation term. His administrative gifts will have lasting value for our institution as we advance in coming years. We wish him and his family every grace and blessing as he takes up his call to RTS, Jackson.”
WSC wishes Dr. Fesko well as he pursues full-time teaching and writing among our esteemed colleagues at RTS, Jackson. “Having served with him first as a faculty member, and now in administration, I appreciate his zeal for academic excellence, integrity, and his dedication and energy to advancing our mission in service to God’s church,” said WSC President Joel Kim. “We will miss him in Escondido, but look forward to our ongoing relationship as educators in service to Christ’s church.”
Please join the faculty, board, and staff of Westminster Seminary California in congratulating Dr. Fesko on his new appointment, and join us in prayer for him, his wife, Anneke, and their three children as they make this transition in the coming months.
