What should I do if I can’t get an academic or ecclesiastical reference?

We’d love to talk with you about your unique situation. Contact our Admissions team to learn more about acceptable alternatives to our typical reference requirements. You can also check out General Seminary Admissions Requirements in the Admissions Policies section of the Academic Catalogue for more information.

Can I still apply if I went to an unaccredited undergraduate institution?

In many instances, graduates of unaccredited undergraduate institutions are still eligible for admittance to WSC. In addition to official transcripts and other seminary application materials, submission of supplemental documents and evidence of the institution’s academic standards may be required. Contact our Admissions team to discuss your unique situation. For a full explanation of our approach to evaluating admissions eligibility for such students, see Graduates of Unaccredited Institutions under the Admissions Policies section of the Academic Catalogue.

Can I still apply if I don’t have a bachelor’s degree?

In extraordinary cases, applicants who have not completed a bachelor’s degree but whose gifts for ministry and service are evident may apply for admission to our MDiv or MA programs as a Special Student. We encourage you to contact our Admissions team to discuss your eligibility and unique story, in addition to reviewing the Special Student Program as outlined under the Admissions Policies section of the Academic Catalogue.

When will I be notified of my admission status?

Once you begin the online seminary application, our Admissions Counselors will be in touch regularly regarding the status of your application file, including receipt of your references and transcripts. After all necessary components have been submitted, you can expect to receive notification of an admittance decision via email within 1–2 weeks.

What if I’m admitted but then can’t enroll in my anticipated start term?

Once you’re admitted and have paid the enrollment deposit, you can defer your enrollment for up to one additional academic year beyond the academic term for which you were admitted. Check out Deferred Enrollment under the Admissions Policies section of the Academic Catalogue to learn more.
