On February 16, 2017, the WSA will welcome Rev. Dr. Zack Eswine, Director of Homiletics and Adjunct Professor of Applied Theology at Covenant Theological Seminary, as the Spring 2017 convocation speaker. The lecture will be 10-11am in the WSC chapel and is entitled “What I Didn't Learn in Seminary.”
In addition to his role at Covenant Theological Seminary, Dr. Eswine serves as lead pastor at Riverside Church (EPC) in Webster Groves, Missouri, where he has served since 2008. In his new role at Covenant, Dr. Eswine teaches the introductory homiletics course, the introductory lectures for the core homiletics curriculum, and oversees the Seminary’s adjunct and visiting instructors who teach the homiletics preaching labs.
Dr. Eswine is the author of several books, including Kindled Fire: How the Methods of C .H. Spurgeon Can Help Your Preaching; Preaching to a Post-Everything World, which received the Preaching Today Book of the Year Award; Sensing Jesus: Life and Ministry as a Human Being; Spurgeon’s Sorrows: Realistic Hope for those who Suffer from Depression; Recovering Eden: The Gospel According to Ecclesiastes; and, most recently, The Imperfect Pastor: Discovering Joy in our Limitations through a Daily Apprenticeship with Jesus.
