Psalm 8 contains the reflections of the psalmist upon the night sky. At the beginning and end, he speaks about the glory of God.

The Psalm is not a reflection focused on the pre-fall position of humanity in God’s creation but on God’s continued use of mankind in redemptive history.

Dr. Clark commences the WSC Fall Faculty series on the Psalms with a devotional from Psalm 2.

In times of distress, darkness, and hopelessness, the Psalmist exhorts believers to turn to the Lord and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. God who is faithful will answer and will show his people His salvation.

Psalm 61 provides the believer a wonderful roadmap for prayer, bringing us back into the way of trusting God when we cry out for guidance, remember his faithfulness, and long for his presence.

Psalm 29 reminds us of the incomparable power of God, and how he makes peace by defeating his enemies.

We will consider the outcome of the meal the Lord prepares for us in the presence of our enemies.

Psalm 130 is a microcosm of the ordinary Christian life of guilt, grace, and gratitude.

We will be looking at God’s promise to restore the fortunes of Zion and the various ways in which he has done and will do that.

The psalmist sets forth the way of comprehensive, whole-hearted devotion to God’s law. And in light of his own sin and the evil of the world, he expresses a great uneasiness, mixed with an expectant faith in God for help.

Psalm 68 records the march of God across the desert from Sinai to Zion.  Probably composed for the installation of the ark of the covenant in the Jerusalem temple, this Psalm lies at the heart of Israel’s story—and ours as well.  

Psalm 2 is an obvious Messianic Psalm and is referenced several times in the New Testament. We will look briefly at the Psalm and then in three interesting places where the New Testament shows its fulfillment.

The Lord cares for us in the midst of the suffering we face in this life as Christians. So let us revel in his love and gratefully love him in return.

In the midst of challenging circumstances, we emulate the Psalmist in looking within ourselves.  Yet this Psalm and the Scriptures remind us of our dependence by highlighting the phrase “but God.”  

This psalm celebrates the God who fulfilled his promises to Abraham.
