Master of Divinity & Master of Arts in Historical Theology

Class of 2004 & 2009

What work or ministries have you been involved with since graduation?
I graduated with an M.Div in 2004. In September of that year, I was ordained in the United Reformed Churches in North America and called to plant a church in Santee, California. By God’s grace, we planted Christ United Reformed Church where I served as pastor until 2018. I then accepted a call to serve as a missionary for the URCNA in Milan, Italy, where I now live with my family and serve as pastor of Chiesa Riformata Filadelfia. 100% of my ministry here is in the Italian language: preaching, teaching, writing, visiting, evangelism, etc. I am also working with three other missionaries here in Italy (one from the URCNA and two from the PCA) to establish Italy’s only confessionally Reformed denomination.

Have you pursued/completed further education since graduation? If so, where?

While serving as pastor of Christ URC in Santee, CA, I completed an M.A. in Historical Theology at WSC and published my thesis with Reformation Heritage Books. Originally, my plan was to pursue a PhD after completing the M.A.H.T., but the Lord had other plans for me.

How has your seminary education been valuable in your current vocation (or any vocation since graduation)? Has it been valuable in ways you weren’t expecting?
My education from WSC thoroughly helped me understand the Bible, not only in its original languages, but in its redemptive-historical flow that highlights the person and work of Christ from Genesis to Revelation. WSC equipped me to proclaim Christ from all the Scriptures, week in and week out. Over the past twenty years, I have been able to help people understand covenant theology and how to read the Bible.

What would you say to someone who is currently considering seminary education at WSC?
Do it. You won’t regret it.
