In contrast to angels, who are God's servants (Hebrews 1:7) and who are subject to change, like all creatures, the author to the Hebrews shows from Psalm 45 that the Son is addressed as “God” by God, forever occupies an eternal throne, and rules in utter righteousness. The Psalm also brings us into view as the divine King's “companions,” who share the joyful celebration of his anointing and enthronement. Jesus is the king who can be trusted to rule our lives and circumstances with absolute control, for he would never succumb to power's corrupting influence.
