From its founding, Westminster Seminary California (WSC) has existed to bless and be blessed by the global church. We seek to provide quality education to students from around the world through our graduate theological programs.
Due to the time required to receive and process international application documents, the WSC Office of Admissions strongly encourages you to begin this process at least a year in advance of when you desire to begin your studies.
This includes your references, transcript(s), and online application.
An official transcript is needed from each post-secondary institution from which you have received credit; transcripts must be in English. See the application process for more information.
You can register for SFAD here, or learn more here. Can’t find a virtual SFAD that works for you? You can also schedule a Zoom call with one of our admissions counselors.
If your native language is something other than English, you are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), which also includes the Test of Written English (TWE), as part of your application.
Please be sure to request that test results be sent directly to Westminster Seminary California. Our school code is 4980. TOEFL (Internet-Based) Score Requirements: Minimum overall score 88 on TOEFL, 25 on Writing portion
U.S. UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS: If you are an international student who has completed an undergraduate degree in the U.S. or in an English-speaking country with a minimum 2.7 GPA, you are eligible to be exempt from the TOEFL requirement.
Now that you’ve been admitted (hooray!), it is time to apply for On-Campus Housing and Financial Aid. These forms will also be included with your admittance notification email.
Upon admission, our Senior Enrollment Specialist will reach out about your next steps. You can also learn more about the F-1 Visa and Visa Application Process on our website.
Due to limited financial aid resources, WSC cannot accommodate all international applicants. Applicants are selected on the basis of potential for significant contribution to Christ’s Church in general, and the Reformed and Presbyterian faith in particular, in their own home country. International students are typically expected to return to their native countries to minister upon completion of their studies at WSC.
Can’t make it to campus to visit before you apply to WSC? Consider joining us for a virtual SFAD event each fall (VSFAD 2025 date TBD). Hear from our faculty and current international students, watch one of our classes, and learn more about the visa and application process at virtual SFAD!
Learn more about some of our alumni who came to Westminster Seminary California as international students! Could this be you?
