The Robert G. and Nellie B. den Dulk Lectures on Pastoral Ministry were endowed by friends of Westminster Seminary California (WSC) and by the den Dulks in 1993, when Dr. den Dulk resigned as the second president of the seminary. In appreciation for the den Dulks’ 30-year service to both Westminster Seminaries in California and Philadelphia and in recognition of their passion for the preparation of pastors to preach the Word of God faithfully and powerfully, WSC designated the proceeds of this endowment to bring an experienced pastor to campus each year to address current and future ministers of Word and Sacrament in order to encourage and offer wise counsel regarding the rigors and joys of shepherding Christ’s flock.
On March 24-26, WSC will welcome Rev. Dr. Kim Riddlebarger as the 2020 den Dulk Lecturer. Dr. Riddlebarger's lecture series is titled “The Pastor as Apologist, Theologian, & Bible Scholar.” If you aren't able to join us in the WSC chapel in person, the lectures will be livestreamed on Youtube and the audio will be available afterwards on the WSC website and mobile app.

“The Pastor as Apologist, Theologian, & Bible Scholar”
March 24: Preaching and Apologetics In this lecture, Dr. Riddlebarger will focus upon the importance of preaching “apologetically” — using apologetic arguments in preaching, developing Francis Schaeffer's emphasis upon Christianity's truth claim over its utility. How does one make the case for Christianity in the pulpit winsomely?
March 25: Preaching and Systematic Theology In this lecture, Dr. Riddlebarger will address the importance of teaching people sound doctrine as the basis for proper application. How do you communicate doctrine–the deep truths of the faith–while making such doctrine applicable to daily life?
March 26: Preaching and biblical theology In the final lecture, Dr. Riddlebarger will address keeping the big picture of redemptive history continually before a congregation as the proper context in which to make specific application.
Dr. Kim Riddlebarger is senior pastor of Christ Reformed Church in Anaheim, California, and for over twenty-five years was co-host of the popular White Horse Inn, a radio-internet talk show (White Horse Inn Program Archives).
A fourth generation Californian, Kim is a graduate of California State University Fullerton (B.A.), Simon Greenleaf University (M.A.), Westminster Seminary California (M.A.R.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (Ph.D.) where he worked under Richard A. Muller. Kim's doctoral dissertation is entitled The Lion of Princeton — Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield: Apologist, Polemicist, and Theologian.
Kim has served as a visiting lecturer in the graduate program in Reformation studies at Concordia University in Irvine, CA and was the chairman of the Growing Reformed Churches Conference, cosponsored by First Chino URC and Westminster Seminary California, where he served as a member of the board of trustees. Kim also served as executive vice president of Christians United for Reformation (CURE), the forerunner of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals (ACE). Kim also served several terms as visiting professor of systematic theology at Westminster Seminary California.
Kim is an ordained minister in the United Reformed Churches (URCNA), is the author of four books: A Case For Amillennialism, (Baker Books, 2003/2013), and The Man of Sin: Uncovering the Truth About the Antichrist (Baker Books, 2006), First Corinthians: The Lectio Continua Expository New Testament Commentary (Tolle Lege Press, 2013); and The Lion of Princeton: B. B. Warfield as Apologist and Theologian (Lexham Press, 2015).
Kim is married to Micki, and has two adult sons, David and Mark. Kim is interested in family history and is presently writing a history of the Riddlebarger family. He is also a life-long New York Yankees fan.
