Class of 2014
What work or ministries have you been involved with since graduation?
After graduating in 2014 I worked as a writer, lead writer, and the founding managing editor of White Horse Inn’s Core Christianity website (formerly called Discover) and Core Christianity Bible studies from June 2014 to February 2017. I founded the Beautiful Christian Life website in 2017, which has had to date over four million unique visitors from around the world. Beautiful Christian Life (BCL) is a multi-author platform that shares solid Christian doctrine and practical application, resolutely upholding the five solas of the Protestant Reformation. I have had the honor of working with fellow Westminster Seminary California graduates Daniel Rowlands, BCL Content Editor, and Ayrian Yasar, BCL Associate Editor, since the website launched in 2017. Additionally, I was the dean of women for Westminster Seminary California from 2016 to 2018.
How has your seminary education been valuable in your current vocation (or any vocation since graduation)? Has it been valuable in ways you weren’t expecting?
I remember Dr. R. Scott Clark stating, “You need to know your view, the other views, and the difference between them.” At Westminster Seminary California I learned from professors who have based their life’s work on distinguishing the important differences between various theological views and evaluating them within the context of the full revelation of God’s word. My WSC professors gave me the tools I needed to be able to provide helpful content to Christians around the world who have not been introduced to essential Reformed doctrine and practice.
What would you say to a woman who is currently considering seminary education at WSC?
The need for seminary-educated women has never been greater in our world. While there is an immense amount of resources available on the Bible and related subjects, there are relatively few women who are properly equipped to teach God’s word, distinguishing sound theology from the often well-meaning but faulty biblical instruction frequently taking place. The body of Christ needs women who will take the time and make the sacrifices necessary to learn the biblical languages, church history, and systematic and biblical theology in order to serve others who cannot attend seminary for a variety of reasons. Whether you pursue future endeavors in teaching, counseling, writing, mission work, parenting, or many other worthy vocations, Westminster Seminary California will prepare you to face the challenges ahead in a post-Christian world.
