July is move-in month for new seminary students––and their families! With Summer Greek just a few weeks away, the Village–as the campus housing community is affectionately called––begins to buzz with the sound of moving trucks rumbling in and out, students meeting their new neighbors, and children beginning to explore the play areas.
Several graduating classes have now had the opportunity to live on-campus for the duration of their time at Westminster Seminary California. Although it’s not essential to the great education and equipping WSC provides, the housing units provide an affordable option for students––especially families––who might not otherwise be able to come to California to study in-person, which is an emphasis of the WSC educational experience!
“I wouldn’t be here without the housing,” said Connor Vincent, a 4-year Master of Divinity student.
This summer, nearly 30 new students–singles, married couples, and those with families–have joined the community.
But beyond access to the campus, residents in the Village work to cultivate care and community among their neighbors.
Bhlessa Abio-an, an international student beginning her second year, said she and her husband have greatly appreciated the community the Village creates during a season where fellowship and support are so important.
“Coming from abroad to the seminary, on-campus living has provided a place to build friendship and fellowship early on,” she said. “We met our first friends in the seminary just by sitting in front of our door. And the housing provides a perfect place for hospitality which is important to us.”
