Internship Spotlight: Oguz N. Alhan

Student: Oguz N. Alhan

Program: Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

Hosting Church: Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA)

Location: Austin, TX

Internship Highlight:

"I’ve had great two months of internship here at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX. I have been able to watch closely and learn how to shepherd a congregation faithfully from Rev. Eric Landry and Dr. Marcus Serven. Pastoral ministry is not only teaching doctrine, but also shepherding God’s people--leading them closer and closer to the cross of Christ amidst this broken and confused world. It has been an excellent experience for me to witness the work at Redeemer and learn how to conduct a ministry faithfully through God's Word and Sacraments. And it was a privilege to be able to bring the Word of God to these people and worship our Lord together. I am thankful for every hour I spent here."

About the Field Education Program

Westminster Seminary California’s Field Education Program is designed to integrate on-campus studies with part-time ministry in local churches. Field education involves supervised hands-on ministry experience and opportunities for evaluation and reflection with mentors, peers, and professors, in which students are given opportunities to develop the skills and gifts necessary for effective ministry. The Field Education Program at WSC provides an opportunity for Master of Divinity students to gain practical ministry experience to which they can apply the information learned in the classroom. In this way the WSC curriculum seeks to balance intense Christian scholarship with practical ministry.
