Dr.
R. Scott Clark was a special guest at a live recording
of the
White Horse Inn in Oceanside, CA
on May 7. Co-host
Dr.
Michael S. Horton was joined by co-hosts: Ken Jones and Rod Rosenbladt.
The topic of the recording was "Selling Jesus: Consumerism &
Market Values in the Church" and will air on May 18.

2008, The Annual Strimple Classic
On Saturday, May 17, WSC held the annual Strimple
Classic, the end-of-Spring-semester celebration/softball
game that pits the graduating senior class and faculty
against the junior and middler students. This event is named after
Dr. Robert B. Strimple,
President Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Systematic
Theology.

wass a featured speaker at
Clarus, an
annual conference of Desert Springs Church in Albuquerque,
NM. This year's conference title was "Galatians and

April 24-25, 2008, Drs. Estelle and VanDrunen at OPC Conference
Drs.
Bryan Estelle and
David VanDrunen were featured speakers at the OPC Timothy
Conference on April 24-25 in the WSC Chapel. The
purpose of the OPC Timothy Conference is to seek out and
encourage godly young Orthodox Presbyterian men to consider
the gifts God has given them and whether the Lord of the
church may be calling them to pursue the gospel ministry.

Dr. Sean Michael Lucas,
associate professor of Church
History at Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO) and a
scholar of American Christianity, gave several lectures
at WSC.
Dr. Lucas has written and edited volumes on Dabney, Edwards,
and recently,
On Being Presbyterian.
April 18-20, 2008, Dr. Hywel R. Jones at OPC
Conference in San Antonio, TX
Dr. Hywel R. Jones was the featured speaker at a theology
conference at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in San
Antonio, TX. Dr. Jones spoke on Psalm 119 in a series
entitled "The Word of God and the Way of the Godly."

On April 9, the Westminster Student Association (WSA)
organized a successful annual blood drive at WSC. Another blood drive will be scheduled in
the next school year.
April 5-May 10, 2008, Drs. Bergsma, Johnson, Julius Kim, and
Joel Kim at Mind for Missions in Los Angeles, CA
Drs. Derke Bergsma, Dennis E. Johnson, Julius J. Kim, and
Joel E. Kim were guest lecturers at Mind for Missions, a 10
week course focusing on missions.

Dr.
Dennis E. Johnson led a discussion on his paper on
Romans 7, followed by a discussion with students.
The Warfield Seminar is an opportunity for students to
engage in informal conversation with professors on their
current research. It is held about three times a semester,
and a professor makes available a paper that he has been
working on, often in preparation for a conference
presentation, journal article, or chapter in a book. At the
Warfield Seminar the professor presents his argument and
engages in discussion with students and professors about his
research and conclusions. Students have the opportunity to
expand the horizons of their theological education through
this seminar.

Lectures on Pastoral Ministry
WSC's annual den Dulk Lectures on Pastoral Ministry were held
on March 4-6 with
guest speaker the Rev. Dr. Wilson Benton, recently retired
senior pastor of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church (PCA) in St. Louis. Dr. Benton lectured on "Critical
Aspects of the Pastor’s Life: Pastoring, Planning and
Parenting."
This special lecture series is sponsored by the friends of
Bob and Nellie den Dulk for the purpose of bringing an
experienced minister on campus to provide wisdom and insight
to WSC M.Div. students.

Ceremony for Dr. David VanDrunen
WSC celebrated the promotion of Dr. David M. VanDrunen
to Robert B. Strimple Professor of Systematic Theology and
Christian Ethics with an inauguration ceremony on Tuesday,
February 19.
Dr. VanDrunen's inaugural address was entitled "The Two
Kingdoms and the Ordo Salutis: Life Beyond Judgment and the
Question of a Dual Ethic."
February 11, 2008, New Student
Orientation
On February 11, 2008, new winter and spring term students
began their educational careers at Westminster Seminary
California as they gathered for New Student Orientation. Drs.
Dennis Johnson (Dean of Students), Julius Kim (Academic
Dean) and other staff orientated new students to Seminary
life, policies, and resources.
February 9, 2008, Dr. David VanDrunen at OPC Conference
Dr. David VanDrunen was a featured speaker at a conference
presented by
Theophilus Orthodox Presbyterian Church in
Diamond Bar, CA. His lecture title was "A Biblical Theology
of Death."
February 8-9, 2008, Dr. Julius Kim
at RPCNA Conference
Dr. Julius, Kim was the primary speaker for the "Climbing Hills: Clarification of Purpose" Conference, a two-day reunion of Pacific Coast
RPCNA
(Reformed Presbyterian Church in North America) pastors, elders and others who have
participated in a series of workshops and seminars on congregational revitalization
over the last several years. It was sponsored by the Revitalization Committee of the RPCNA Synod.
This conference was be held at WSC and was by invitation only.
