WSC will have a special convocation lecture with Dr. Manfred Svensson, professor of philosophy at the University of the Andes, who will give a lecture entitled "John Owen on Toleration" on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 10:00am.
After studying Philosophy at the Adolfo Ibáñez University in Viña del Mar, Chile, Dr. Svensson went on to receive a Ph.D. (2007) at the University of Munich, Germany. Since 2007 he is Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Andes, Chile. His initial work was mainly concentrated on Augustine (Theorie und Praxis bei Augustin, Freiburg, 2009). At the popular level he has written Spanish introductions to C. S. Lewis, Bonhoeffer, and Kierkegaard. His main current research topics are the history of the idea of “things indifferent” (adiaphora) and non liberal theories of toleration.
