Inauguration of Dr. Bryan Estelle, Professor of Old Testament

On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, President W. Robert Godfrey and the Board of Trustees inaugurated Dr. Bryan Estelle as WSC's Professor of Old Testament. The inauguration ceremony was held in the seminary chapel.

Dr. Estelle delivered his inaugural lecture titled, "The Role of the Old Testament Professor at the Beginning of the Twenty-First Century." Following his lecture, Dr. Tom Martin, pastor of Knox Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Silver Spring, MD, gave the charge.

The Rev. Dr. W. Robert Godfrey installed Dr. Estelle as a full professor after asking him to reaffirm his oath, in the presence of God and the Trustees and faculty of Westminster Seminary California, to continue to uphold and subscribe to the confessional standards of the seminary. All faculty, the president, and Trustees of the seminary must subscribe (as stated in the seminary bylaws) the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.

A reception for Dr. and Mrs. Estelle followed immediately in the chapel foyer.

Dr. Estelle’s inauguration was a milestone for him and an occasion for recognizing his work. Dr. Estelle is an alumnus of Westminster Seminary California and an ordained minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC). He helped plant Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, OR, prior to joining the WSC faculty in 2000.
