S. M. Baugh
Professor of New Testament

B.A. and B.A., University of Oregon; M.A.R. and M.Div., Westminster Seminary California; Ph.D., University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Baugh has taught part- and full-time at Westminster Seminary California since 1983. He is a minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and is actively engaged in preaching and teaching at Escondido Orthodox Presbyterian Church and elsewhere.

One of Dr. Baugh’s main concerns has been to develop a more effective and integrated curriculum in Greek instruction for the Seminary. To this end, he wrote the two main textbooks used for Greek I-III: New Testament Greek for Interpreters and A First John Reader. Dr. Baugh was a contributor to the award-winning Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary. He has written scholarly articles for such anthologies as Women in the Church, Still Sovereign: Contemporary Perspectives on Election, Foreknowledge, and Grace, and Marriage and Family in the Biblical World. He has also written for journals such as New Testament Studies, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society and Westminster Theological Journal.

He and his wife, Kathy, enjoy living on their “Lazy B Ranch” in Valley Center with their three children.
