The D.K. Kim Foundation Scholarship Fund at Westminster Seminary California
These scholarships are annually funded by the D. K. Kim Foundation, Inc., in order to promote the Christian faith through the preparation of ministers of the Gospel for the Church of Jesus Christ worldwide. Its purpose is to provide annual scholarships for deserving students in the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program.
The WSC Financial Aid Committee will award one (1) full-tuition scholarship to a full time non-North American International student enrolled in the M.Div. program with demonstrated financial need determined through the WSC International Financial Aid Application. The WSC Financial Aid Committee will award ten (10) half-tuition scholarships to full-time students enrolled in the M.Div. program with demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA and WSC Application for Financial Aid. All awards shall be credited to the recipients’ tuition accounts at the seminary in the academic year for which the scholarship was granted.
Application Requirements: Students shall apply for the Kim Foundation Scholarship with the Kim Foundation Application form (available through the WSC Admissions Office), the WSC Application for Financial Aid and FAFSA (U.S. Students only). All applications must be received by the Financial Aid Committee of WSC by April 15
to be considered for the next academic year. Students who have been granted this scholarship during their first year and have maintained a 3.0 grade point average may reapply to the Financial Aid Committee for aid in each successive academic year until they graduate. Reapplication must be made prior to April 15.

Awes
Presidential Scholarship
This award was funded by Mrs. Johanna Awes to serve as a testimony of God's
faithfulness to her husband and herself.
The grants are awarded by the President of the Seminary to students meeting
certain criteria. Such criteria include, but are not limited to:
- high academic standing
- full-time enrollment in the M.Div. degree program
- status under care of a presbytery (or equivalent) as a student of theology
- proven record of leadership ability
- potential for leadership in the church of Christ
The financial need of the student may also be considered. Such grants are
normally given for one year, but may be given for two or more years based on the
student's performance.

The Minnie Gresham
Machen Scholarship
The Minnie Gresham Machen Scholarship was established to encourage and enable
talented women to take advantage of advanced theological education at
Westminster Seminary California in order to equip them to answer God’s calling
in the home, the academy, and the church.
The scholarship is named to honor the memory and legacy of Minnie Gresham
Machen, a woman who was valiant for the truth of the Reformed faith throughout
her life and profoundly influenced her son, J. Gresham Machen, through his
formative training in the richness of Scripture and the confessional tradition
of the Reformed faith.
The Minnie Gresham Machen Scholarship Committee will award the scholarship to
one or more recipients each year who meet the following criteria: the recipient
must be admitted to a full-time MA program at WSC, the recipient must be a
member in good standing of a Bible-believing church, the recipient must show
evidence of high academic achievement, and the recipient must demonstrate
financial need through the WSC application for financial aid. The scholarship
will provide tuition aid up to full tuition for up to three years of study,
depending upon the need of the recipient.
Admitted students desiring to apply for the scholarship must submit a 250-500
word essay on why they wish to study at Westminster Seminary California, and how
they plan to use their theological and biblical education after graduation.
Applications are to be addressed to the Minnie Gresham Machen Scholarship
Committee and must be submitted by April 1 for the following academic year.

The Elijah and
Elizabeth Owen Scholarship Fund
The Elijah and Elizabeth Owen Scholarship Fund is established in honor of the
ministry of Pastor Elijah Owen who served for more than thirty-six years as a
chaplain in the California State Prison system. Chaplain Owen’s ministry through
both the spoken as well as the written word has influenced the lives of many
inmates to come to a knowledge of the doctrines of God’s sovereign grace.
The purpose of this Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarship assistance to
students entering the Gospel ministry who are not able to cover all of their
expenses while attending Westminster Seminary California.
Students meeting the qualifications outlined above may make a formal request to
the Westminster Seminary California Financial Aid Committee. In addition to the
regular student aid application form, the student shall write a statement of no
more than three pages in length describing goals and plans for ministry.
Applications should be received by April 1 of each year and notification of the
award will be granted no later than May 15 prior to the academic school year.

The Samuel and Ann Van Til Student Scholarship Prizes
The Samuel and Ann Van Til Student Scholarship Prizes have been instituted by
the children of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Van Til to honor their parents’ love for the
Reformed faith and its witness to the world through Westminster Seminary
California. The fund was established in 1994 through an estate bequest of Mr.
and Mrs. Van Til and receives continuing memorial donation from family and
friends.
The fund’s annual investment proceeds are used to encourage exemplary Reformed
scholarship by the awarding of non-need-based tuition grants for continued
full-time study at Westminster Seminary California. One prize is awarded each
year for the best major paper (15-20 pages) submitted in each of the Seminary’s
departments: Biblical Studies, Theological Studies, and Practical Theology. The
faculty, through a process coordinated by the Academic Dean, selects the
recipients.

The Arthur Forest Wells Memorial Scholarship
This fund was established in 1980 in memory of the Rev. Arthur Forest Wells, a
Presbyterian minister in St. Louis and Baltimore. Fifty percent of the annual
income is used for the purchase of books for the Seminary library, and fifty
percent is awarded to a selected student for the purchase of books for his
professional theological library.
One recipient is selected each year. To qualify, you must:
- be a senior M.Div. student
- uphold the highest standards of scholarship
- subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith
- have the career goal of serving as a minister of a local congregation in a
Presbyterian or other Reformed denomination.

The You Kye-Soon Memorial Scholarship
The family of Mrs. You Kye-Soon instituted this scholarship as a memorial of her
life of faith in her savior Jesus Christ and of her concern to make the Gospel
known. Its purpose is to provide an annual scholarship for a deserving full-time
student in the Master of Divinity program. The award will be reviewed annually
and can be renewed for the student who has done adequate work at the Seminary
and continues to have financial need.
Applications for this scholarship should consist of a one-page typed letter
describing the applicant’s spiritual background, demonstrated financial need,
and future plans for ministry. Applications for this grant should be directed to
the Dean of Students (address same as above). The award will be applied to the
recipient’s tuition at WSC.

Trinity Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) Scholarship
Trinity OPC of Medford, Oregon provides a scholarship each year. To qualify, you
must be:
- A student in the Master of Divinity program
- A member in good standing in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church
- Under care of an OPC Presbytery
- Planning to be a pastor in the OPC
- Able to demonstrate financial need

Reformed Scholarship Fund
These grants for first-year students of up to $1,000 were established by friends
of the Seminary to encourage students from Reformed churches to attend WSC.
One or two recipients are chosen each year by the Seminary's Student Financial Aid
Committee according to the following criteria:
- Acceptance for full-time study as a first year student
- Membership in good standing in a Reformed church
- Demonstrated financial need
- Demonstrated Christian leadership
