A student is expected to complete all work within the current term. In
extraordinary circumstances, however, a student may petition for an Incomplete.
If the petition is granted, the “I” grade will remain on his transcript in
addition to the final letter grade.
An Incomplete is normally granted only when the student’s work in the course has
not been completed due to extenuating circumstances, such as long term personal
illness; illness in the family that has required the student’s attention; death
in the family or personal or family traumatic crisis.
Incompletes may not be given when a student has simply failed to complete the
work or fails to take an examination due to lack of discipline or organization,
church ministry, job responsibilities, or other ordinary circumstances. The Dean
of Students will determine whether adequate cause exists for granting the
Incomplete.
No Incomplete will be granted automatically. Student initiative is required to
petition for an Incomplete.
Petition Procedures:
- Obtain the Incomplete Petition form from the Registrar’s office or from the
Westminster Seminary California website
- Obtain the signatures of the professor and the Dean of Students.
- Return the completed petition to the Registrar by the last day of classes.
